Your first appointment will be either a comprehensive examination or a problem-focused examination. The problem-focused examination is used for emergencies and palliative treatment is offered for your comfort that same day. For proper diagnosis, necessary digital x-rays are taken during your first visit after they are carefully prescribed by Dr. Knight. Your treatment options are discussed and given to you in written form. However, a complex medical history or treatment plan may require a separate consultation, at no charge, to review and discuss all your options and present them in writing. An informed patient is always a better consumer when he or she is involved in this decision-making process.
IMPORTANT: We love seeing children and your child’s first visit is an important event. Dr. Knight and the hygienist will make your child’s visit memorable and positive. Every child needs a dental home by age one when the first teeth are erupting. This helps ensure we can prevent dental cavities early in your child’s life. Our “happy visits” for the very young are fun and informative. All patients under the age of 18 are minors and must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Please assist us by providing the following information at the time of your examination:
- Any recent x-rays taken by a previous dentist, if applicable.
- A list of medications, herbs, and supplements you are presently taking.
- If you have dental insurance, bring your card and the necessary completed forms. This will save time and allow us to help you process any claims.
Please alert the office if you have a medical condition that may be of concern prior to treatment (i.e., diabetes, high blood pressure, artificial heart valves, bleeding disorders, rheumatic fever, etc.).
If your last dentist had taken x-rays, you may request that they forward them to our office. If there is not enough time, please pick them up and bring them to our office. If additional x-rays are necessary, they can be taken at our facility.
